Cream Of the Crop At EFS NZ Gardener Speaker Series

August 2005

NZ Gardener is sowing the seeds of its Gold Sponsorship of Ellerslie Flower Show 2005 with the announcement of the NZ Gardener Speaker Series.

The NZ Gardener Speaker Series is a highlight of this year’s show providing a forum for top experts in a variety of different fields to present the latest trends, handy ideas and useful solutions for novice and aficionados alike.

An impressive lineup of speakers from overseas and within New Zealand have been chosen to present information, entertain garden enthusiasts and to inspire. They will share their experiences on a vast range of hot garden topics from Tuesday 16 to Sunday 19 November in a purpose built 100 seat show venue.

Leading Australian landscape designer Jim Fogarty will communicate his passion for environmentally sensitive design with a presentation on “What’s Hot in Australian Design”.

Internationally renowned floral designer Richard Go will live up to his reputation as a “Floral MacGyver”, with hands-on demonstrations on how to create fantastic floral displays from your own backyard.

For the herb enthusiast, Tasmanian-based Kim Fletcher will share her expert knowledge in the area of herb gardening and how to use herbs to create theme gardens.

NZ Gardener contributors Julian Matthews and Dennis Greville will add to the edible theme with an inspirational look at edible gardening, an increasingly popular fashion in New Zealand.

Popular media personality and first-class photographer Jack Hobbs will share the images and experiences of his recent tour of gardening enthusiasts around China.

For those who like to walk on the wild side, Carolyn Melling, owner of Landsendt Exotic Plants, will speak on balancing her love for rare plants with the demands of business.

NZ Gardener Editor Sarah Beresford says the Speaker Series is designed to be a real treat for gardening enthusiasts.

“As the magazine that fosters New Zealanders’ passion for gardening, we are proud to present the 2005 NZ Gardener Speaker Series,” says Sarah.

“There’s something for every gardener in this year’s speaker lineup. We hope people enjoy the NZ Gardener Speaker Series and leave feeling inspired to get out in the garden!”

As Gold Sponsor of the Ellerslie Flower Show NZ Gardener will be bringing its readers “behind the scenes” glimpses of this year’s premier garden show event in the upcoming issues of the magazine.
