Flowers were the name of the game at Ellerslie Flower Show today, as members of the public arrived to receive free Show tickets based on having a name with floral origins.
Among the 35 Ellerslie Flower Show Flower Girls to receive complimentary passes were Roses, Lavenders, Irises, Violets and Poppies – and even a three-year-old Lily!
The Flower Girls were photographed centre stage at the Manukau City Council Cultural Performance Garden before enjoying a full day at the Show.
Pete Cox, General Manager of Ellerslie Flower Show, said he was delighted to give something back to the public with the Flower Girl initiative.
“We were thrilled to be able to provide the public with the opportunity to come to the Show for free based on a key element of the Show – flowers! And we’ve got thousands more of them in every conceivable shape, colour and scent,” says Mr Cox.
The Ellerslie Flower Show 2005 is Like Never Before, with innovation, inspiration and floral delights. The Show blooms from 16–20 November at Auckland Botanic Gardens. Tickets can be purchased at any Ticketek outlet, by contacting 09 307 5000 (or your local Ticketek number) via the website www.ticketek.co.nz, or at the gate.
