Fleming’s Student Design Competition

Fleming’s Nurseries in Australia sponsor this competition, providing a fantastic opportunity for students to launch a landscape design career.  Three finalists from Australia and one from New Zealand will be constructed at the 2006 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, April 5 — 9.  The winning New Zealand design and other entrant designs will be on display in the Design Marquee at this year’s Ellerslie Flower Show.  Last year’s New Zealand winning finalist was Remi Bint from Victoria University of Wellington.  The winner from this year will be hosted by Fleming’s Nurseries at the 2006 Melbourne Flower Show.  Please see your tutor for details or visit www.flemings.com.au for full details and a competition brief.  The closing date for New Zealand entries is Friday 4 November 2005.

Flixonase Low Allergy Garden Competition

Ellerslie Flower Show is proud to present the Flixonase Secondary Schools Low Allergy Garden Competition. Flixonase will bring to life the design of one New Zealand secondary school student’s design, which you can see in the Sunday magazine Exhibition Gardens. You will also see the designs from runners-up to show the exceptional standard of this educational competition.  For a competition brief please see your teacher or administration building.

Ellerslie Flower Show Young Designer of the Year

The Garden Design Travel Scholarship is a brand new initiative from the Ellerslie Flower Show and will provide a talented Kiwi garden designer with the opportunity of a lifetime and a title that could start a star designer’s career. In addition to being named Young Designer of the Year, the winner will bag an $8000 grant to travel overseas and study international landscaping and design. All entrants competing must be either a student or have been in the business less than five years since graduating.

Primary Schools Hanging Basket Competition

Ellerslie Flower Show, in association with the Manukau Beautification Charitable Trust, is presenting the Primary Schools Hanging Basket Competition.  Primary schools in the Manukau area have been invited to design and build hanging baskets to be considered for the competition.  The top 25 designs submitted, as judged by the Manukau Beautification Charitable Trust, will be displayed at the Ellerslie Flower Show.  This competition encourages and rewards young persons’ creativity and participation in horticulture.  Visitors will get the opportunity to vote for the hanging basket they like the best by obtaining a voting form on-site from Visitor Services or any information booth.  Voting will only take place Wednesday and Thursday so that the winner can enjoy the kudous of their award throughout the week of the show.

The Ellerslie Flower Show Peoples Choice Award

This award is judged purely by visitors on the first two days of the Show, who vote for their favourite exhibit throughout the course of the day.  To vote for your favourite exhibit please pick up a competition form during the show from Visitor Services or any on-site information booth.  Voting for this award takes place on the Wednesday and Thursday of the show so that the exhibitor who wins this award can reap the rewards and status of having this award on their exhibit for the entire show.  By filling out a form you put yourself in for the chance to win some fantastic prizes.
